butterfly lays one small egg on a leaf.

2. A small caterpillar hatches from the egg and eats a leaf!

The caterpillar eats healthy leaves and grows.

The butterfly is fully grown now. It flies to a pretty flower for
a sweet drink of flower nectar.

When the caterpillar is ready to change into a butterfly, it makes a
safe place to rest and change. It is now a pupa. When it is
ready, it will climb out as a butterfly.
