| SCHOOL OVERSIGHT: Parents are involved in public schools as volunteers, help raise funds, and participate in policy decisions. We have strong Site-Based School Councils. Administrators, staff, parents and community representatives work together to set and monitor annual school improvement goals. The Massachusetts Department of Education regulations govern Site-Based School Councils. Active PTAs and PTOs coordinate enthusiastic parents, and conduct ongoing fund-raising to help enrich our schools. |

| Lexington Education Foundation is "an independent, nonprofit community organization supporting educational excellence in Lexington Public Schools. LEF provides grant funding for ongoing professional development, teacher mentoring, experts-in-residence, and curriculum innovations outside the regular school budget."
